Community Faiths’ Forum Conference and Launch
The Community Faiths’ Forum, which is administered by CCWA, ran a major conference on 1st December 2011 which launched the research report “Faith in Community - A Long Term Investment; A report on research into faith-based engagement with community issues in Northern Ireland.” There were a hundred day participants and over forty young people came later for additional programme. The conference was launched by Nelson McCausland MLA, Minister for Social Development, and the keynote speakers were Tony Macaulay, who wrote the report launched on the day, and Doreen Finneron, until recently Director of the Faith-based Regeneration Network in Britain.
Major conference on faith-based contribution to community work
The Community Faiths’ Forum, which is administered by CCWA, is organising a major conference “Faith to face….with community and social issues from a faith perspective” in Belfast on Thursday 1st December 2011. This will include a variety of elements in a day long programme including the launch of a research report by Tony Macaulay Associates on faith involvement in community work in Northern Ireland, a talk by Doreen Finneron, as well as specific young people’s programme and stalls showcasing faith involvement in this area. CCWA AGM, September 2011
The CCWA AGM took place on 23rd September 2011 at Holy Family Pastoral Centre, Limestone Road, Belfast. The speaker was Diane Holt who was until recently Director of the Link Family and Community Centre in Newtownards and she reflected on fifteen years work there.

CCWA Listening Day, April 2011
CCWA held a ‘Listening Day’ as part of its strategic planning in April 2011. The event was facilitated by Lynda Gould and took people through a process of looking at needs and concerns in the interaction between church and community.

Pilot Faith Communities Forum
Minister Ritchie announced on Tuesday 2nd February 2010 at Stormont the establishment of a pilot Faith Communities Forum.
Consultation on a Volunteering Strategy for Northern Ireland
On Thursday 2nd July 2009, the Department for Social Development launched a consultation paper on the development of a volunteering strategy for Northern Ireland.
The paper, entitled “Join In, Get Involved: Build a Better Future” is available, in a variety of formats, for download from the DSD website.
The consultation runs until 9th October 2009.
There will be a consultation meeting for faith-based organisations on the morning of Tuesday 29th September, hosted by CCWA (NI) and facilitated by the Volunteer Development Agency. Representatives of the Department will also be present. Times and venue will be confirmed as soon as possible.
